We had a wonderful work team.  We enjoyed mutual belongingness deeply.  Our working environment was congenial.  We have developed SWA (Staff Welfare Society), canteen, a cooperative and a cultural society.  We had, in fact, no limit of working hours.  Whenever, there was work - we were available there.  My job was (although mainly) cost, budget & general accounting, staff income tax, financial reporting, and provident fund. I was also entrusted with computerising the centre's activities, specially the finance and material management.

Dr Bucky Greenough and Dr Richard Cash had hired me on loan to start, develop, run and accomplish the success of International Rescue Committee (IRC) - a voluntary agency in Bangladesh during the post-liberation war.   IRC became involved in relief, reconstruction of war torn Bangladesh and rehabilitated disable freedom fighters.  After about five years with IRC, I returned to ICDDR,B with higher responsibilities.  I enjoyed this learning through doing environment.

In over 40 years with ICDDR,B (formerly CRL) I had the pride and honour of the association of Drs Phillips, Hare,  Greenough, Mosley, Monsur, Rahman, Aziz (brothers), Nalin, Rhode, Cash, Sack, Alam, Rafiq, Laila, Mizan and  Senior Scientists Mujib, Wahed, Akbar, Kashem (with apology to those who are left out of this sample list).

I do not enjoy retired life.  I don't want to sit idle. [And so I am] Practicing law casually, enjoying reading classical and current politics.  Involved in social works, but my grown-up children have started taking over.  I look forward to meeting seniors, attending meetings, seminars, and social gatherings.
