Daycare

The Centre recognizes the need of parents to have a caring environment for their children during working hours. On 29 October 2006 Shishu Aloy, the Centre’s new daycare facility was inaugurated by the Executive Director in the presence of children and staff members. Although the Centre has operated a crèche for several years, it was determined that improved facilities would be beneficial for the children. Shishu Aloy aims to provide a safe and healthy environment where each child can enjoy age appropriate activities with emphasis on developing independent skills. Two brightly decorated rooms and Creche with outdoor playground now can accommodate 35 children, from 2 months to 4 years old, 5 days a week. Through structured daily activities the children will develop skills, creativity and imagination.

Daycare groups available

• Crèche for exclusive breastfeeding 2–8months*
• Baby room 8–18 months
• Older children's room 18 months–4 years *(with 1 personal attendant aged 18 yrs or above)

Eligibility for admission

• Applications for Creche are accepted once pregnancy has confirmed
• Admission for all three daycare groups is dependent on the availability of seats and position in the waiting list (on a first come, first served basis)
• The Centre maintains a waiting list for enrolment into all three daycare groups
• Applications for the waiting list can be accepted at any time

Features

• Available to all ICDDR,B employees
• 35 children can be accommodated from the ages of 2 months to 4 years
• Shishu- Aloy is open Sunday - Thursday from 8:30am to 5:00 pm
• Tuition for child under 2 years is taka 500 per month and above 2 years is taka 600
• Tuition for children of low income staff under 2 years is 200 and above 2 years is 250
• Child friendly environment
