Objective: Update of the SUZY project and the steps taken to scale up zinc as a treatment for diarrhea.

Zinc deficiency can result into impaired growth, GI function and immune function. The zinc deficient children are at risk of several adverse health outcomes like diarhea and pneumonia. Evidence based research shows that zinc as a teatment for diarrhea has a great impact in the reduction of diarrhea and childhood mortality. Zinc as a “treatment may prove to be the most feasible delivery strategy in reaching zinc deficient children.

SUZY project has under taken several steps in favor of scaling up zinc treatment for your children with diarrhea. The project partners like MOHFW; GoB has full support and contribution to scale up zinc treatment nationwide. The target is to reduce the under-five mortality rate by two-thirds by the year 2015, which is the #4 point of the Millennuim goal.
