Mr Llewellyn emphasized the need for taking ideas that improve peoples lives  from basic research to formative research to applied research in the field under controlled conditions to operations research (best way to implement it) to larger implementation for impact.

Dr Post stressed the need to focus on PPC, role of non- health providers and family planning

Dr Sack posed a challenge -- how can we define a successful delivery and convert it into an indicator.
 
Sixty-nine participants from 10 countries representing Nepal, Cambodia, Egypt, Philippines, India, Yemen, East Timor, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan were represented.  The organizations represented included - ICDDR,B, USAID, Cooperative Agencies (ACCESS, BASICS, CATALYST, HARP/JHU, POPPHI), USAID Bilaterals CARE, Health Alliance International, AIIMS  New Delhi, WHO-SEARO
