Dr. David Pelletier urged the nutrition community to think about the social/political attractive features of nutrition strategies in order to influence policy makers. The socio-political option might not be the most technically efficacious or effective but it might be the difference between moving nutrition onto the agenda versus not at all. Policymakers often hear from the technical community what they should do (i.e. the ideal situation), but the real challenge is to work together to figure out what can be done given competing priorities.
