Information Technology (IT) Department is responsible for setting up IT strategy considering both short and long term perspective, aligning to organizational strategy and growth plan. IT is overall responsible to maintain a healthy, stable, scalable and secured IT operational environment through constant review of capacity planning for IT infrastructure and platforms mapping to enterprise architecture. The infrastructure includes IT networks, servers, storage, database, internet bandwidth, audio video and telecommunication services.
IT is also responsible for developing applications, change management at systems level, portal services and IT helpdesk services, IT asset including licensing management, training and development, Data integrity and security, business continuity and disaster recovery. IT will also develop, implement IT policy and procedure across the center and as a follow up conduct audit periodically to oversee the implementation and practice.
IT Infrastructure and Systems Management
This unit manages all servers, networks, internet connectivity, data centre, and IT security and vendor relationship. It is also responsible for strategy setting, capacity planning for IT Infrastructure and platforms in line with organizational growth plan considering ICDDR,B's main campus and all field offices and maintain audio, video and Telecommunication Systems and PABX.
Application Development, Integration and Maintenance
This unit is responsible for develop and maintain applications and websites and data capacity, back up and restoration of archived data. It will also be responsible for setting strategy, planning and develop and maintain software acquiring methodology. Follow the standard of SDLC for all in-house application development, collecting requirements for application development from user department formulate the requirement and write specification and engage user for confirmation. It is responsible for conducting application design and impact analysis, coding/programming, testing and implementation and maintenance of all in-house developed and other applications and keep track of change management. Planning and executing integration jobs with other dependent and interface systems.
IT Helpdesk and Support Services
This unit manages and maintains service request log for trouble shooting, installation and trouble shooting of new PC/Laptops, UPS, Scanner and Printer at the Centre, Matlab and all field offices. It will be responsible for receiving calls for trouble shooting, monitoring incident logs, follow up with trouble ticketing and progress of support and pending jobs escalation to next level. It is also responsible for managing and maintaining IT asset base.
Project Management
The responsibility of this unit is to initiate projects, prioritize projects portfolio, execute project, implement projects, follow up and escalate as and when re and execution based on organizational priority, monitoring, evaluation, follow up and escalation.
